I’m so excited about next weekend’s Renegade Craft Fair here in Brooklyn. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve always dreamed of cleaning out all my old sample boxes and re-purposing some old materials. And it’s finally happening! I’ll be working all week on creating new stuff from old stuff, and will post items a few more times before next weekend.
Today I am starting out with these re-purposed journals. I used old rsvp cards as covers and scrap envelope liner papers for the spine. These are blank journals with (roughly) 50 pages each. Hope you like them, I’d love some feedback if you care to comment. : )
PS: Making perfect bound journals is a little time consuming, but not too hard. If you’d like to give it a whirl, here’s a really great tutorial from photojojo.
These are gorgeous! Your paper combinations are lovely and I’m a big fan of reusing all those fun scraps of paper – great work. I’ll try and swing by and introduce myself next weekend!
Thanks so much! Please stop by and say hi!
awesome – i love that you took that photojojo project and made it your own! beautiful patterns on those spines to go with your recycled papers!
Yes its hard to recycle scraps from envelope liners, I’m happy to put them to use. And it feels good cleaning off my shelves. : )
I really love these journals. It’s a great idea and they turned out so nicely. If I lived in Brooklyn I would be trying to get my hands on one of those.
I also really really like that framed print from the previous post.
Thanks Kara, sorry you won’t be in the neighborhood. PS: I’ll probably take whatever is left at the end and put them in my etsy shop.
Very pretty, the clean card designs go really well with the patterns on the spine. They feel kind of Japanese :) Have fun at your craft fair!
Beautiful, I bet they all got snapped up!
You got really beautiful stuff!!
I found your blog through Stumble Upon.
Do you know http://www.etsy.com ?
You can set up your own shop of selfmade things for free, maybe you wanna check it out.
Keep up the good work!
Hey thanks! I do indeed have an etsy shop, and in fact I have a post about Etsy when I printed their company business cards. Hope you can check it out! :)
