I printed some October wedding invitations this week and it made me long for autumn! I’m dreaming of wearing jeans, walking on crunchy leaves and putting turtlenecks on my dog. I love this warm orange ink color – I mixed it using yellow, rubine red and a tiny bit of 477U brown.

Is it me or has this been the weirdest summer ever? I feel like it went both very fast and very slow. On the slow front has been the completion of my new website, which I’m even getting sick of hearing myself talk about. :) I promise it’ll be up soon! In the meantime let’s [...]

Because I look at misprints and scrap paper all day sometimes I forget how cool they can be. Then someone will come by the studio and pick a piece of scrap paper out of the trash and say “Can I have this?”. I remember doing this myself the whole first year I was learning how [...]

monday contest: new words

Today’s contest is inspired by my friend Mark who thinks we need a few new words in the English language. We’re going to do it in two parts, today’s entries will only be definitions that don’t have words yet. I’ll choose one and next week we’ll invent a new word for it. Today’s winner gets [...]

Thanks so much to everyone for the birthday wishes! I loved the entries, and my favorite was the very first one:
“Autumn is more colorful than Spring.” by Kat
NEXT WEEK’S CONTEST is new and exciting. My friend Mark suggested a great idea: the contest will be “definitions for words that don’t exist yet”. His example was [...]

Today we’re going back to the six-word contest! It happens to be my b-day today, so I thought it would be fun to make this week’s theme “getting older”. The best entry wins this moleskin notebook with a letterpressed vintage diving lady on front. (I love her.) Be sure to enter by Tuesday morning at [...]

My new favorite ink color these days is a deep Rose. Light purple seemed to have a revival in ‘07 and ‘08, but mixing it with some magenta produces this lovely shade. I think it goes well with both dark gray and dark brown inks for text…can’t wait to share more pictures once the new [...]
