august printing

The autumn wedding invitation season is starting to kick in around here.  I printed these late last week, and had to show off this beautiful little bell jar I bought in pennsylvania recently.  I should cover a seedling with it but it looks so sweet just sitting on my shelf.

I’m printing a special job today on this 100% cotton Arturo paper.  Registration is sometimes tough with these deckled edges, but its such a nice stock for letterpress.

I recently had a fun visit from my favorite photographer Kathleen Connally!  Kathleen was kind enough to give me some pointers on photographing my press.  I have fluorescent lighting here at the studio, and my heidelberg sits pretty far from the window…so lighting is tricky when I’m taking pictures.  I needed some good advice on my film speed and aperture settings, so hopefully with some practice I’ll get a little better.  That’s me laughing (she’s also very funny).

I’ve done a few weddings over the years that have been celebrated at the legendary Blue Hill at Stone Barns.  One of these days I’ll make it up there.  This invitation was designed and printed for a very nice couple in Jersey City, I love color scheme.

venue envy

I’m just packing up a wedding job I printed this week for a very nice couple in Chicago.  They’re getting married at the Chicago History Museum, which sounds so spectacular.  This invitation and extra pieces had a lot of color (a nice vibrant fuchsia) so I love how they chose an understated flat card for thank you’s.
