Here are some highlights of a wedding invitation I printed this week for the very talented and generally wonderful Lorena Barrezueta.  Lorena and I were both participants in the recent Design by the Book project at the library…and I really love her work…so I was thrilled to do some printing for her.  Congrats Lorena!

Hooray!  Another episode of our library series is out, hosted by the delightful Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge.  It has been really fun working through this project, and I should be printing my final stage pretty soon.  Grace and the gang from the library are coming by tomorrow morning to shoot, so the final episode will be up in the coming weeks.  After that we’re going to have a shindig at the library to celebrate and showcase the work.  I’ll post details once I have them, and will probably offer the prints for sale in my etsy shop.  Thanks for tuning in!

Episode two the Design by the Book video series is out now! This co-production of Design*Sponge and the New York Public Library will be continuing after the holidays with a few more episodes. I hope you’ll tune in to see what projects the artists are working on, including my own set of prints inspired by the NYPL’s stunning map room. And for more library treasures, check out the awesome blog of NYPL librarian Jessica Pigza.   LOVE her.  :)

Today I’m so excited to post about the brand new Design By The Book project, a collaborative video series between the New York Public Library and Design*Sponge.  The project features a small group of brooklyn designers looking for creative inspiration at the public library.  I’m lucky enough to be one of the five participating artists in the series.  We’ve been working on research and filming for a month or two, and yesterday was the debut of the first episode!

We’re hoping the series will encourage designers and artists to check out the library’s vast resources and collections, and use them as a source of inspiration and materials.  With the current economic downturn, I think it’s a great opportunity to discover some *free* resources that are available to all of us.  You can follow the project and read about the other artists on Design*Sponge or watch the first episode right here:

In future episodes I’ll be processing plates from digital files and printing my pieces.  I’ll share more about the project itself in the coming week.  Thanks for watching, and be sure to tune in next week!  :)
