Summer is here. I started my holiday weekend off by honeysuckle hunting out in the fields, what a heavenly scent to bring inside. I hope you enjoy your memorial day wherever you are…let the barbeques begin. :)

I’m so behind on blog posts, sorry about that! I delivered two wedding invitation jobs last week, one from the collection and another designed and submitted by client Thomas De La Garza. This was a font combination I’d never seen before but I think the result is really nice. I also love the original language, nice to see people breaking from the formalities. They had a third ink color, a nice turquoise skyline printed below.

Yesterday I hustled through some business card printing in the morning so I could spend the afternoon experimenting with my new collection of wood type. Such a fun afternoon. Instead of printing words I went abstract and just worked with shapes and composition. This is my first print, I put a few in my etsy shop. More to come, hope you like them! :)

I had some unbelievable luck this morning. I made a spontaneous stop at a PA consignment shop and found this amazing box of wood type. Its a fantastic mix of fonts and sizes. I’ve been meaning to update my etsy shop with some new items, so now I’m inspired to print some wood type cards. I’ll post some samples as soon as they’re ready. :)

Last week I printed these great 1-color wedding invitations designed by Collin Pisarra. Sometimes a design like this can be technically challenging in letterpress. You have to strike the right balance of ink to accommodate the fine and bold lines. For these I used less ink on the rollers and double inked each card for even coverage. Nice job Collin!
