I’ve been printing business cards for the Bubble Lounge restaurant for over five years, and this week we changed the ink color for the very first time. I love the fresh spring green. What ever happened to spring anyway? :)

for Japan

Today I’d like to spread the word about the Hearts & Hands for Japan benefit which is currently raising money to aid the relief efforts in the earthquake aftermath, specifically to benefit a non-profit aid organization called Shelterbox. I designed and printed these three prints.
Japan holds a very special place in my heart. I lived in Tochigi-ken, about 90 minutes north of Tokyo, for 2 years after I graduated college. I taught English in two public junior high schools as a participant in the Jet Programme. It was honestly one of the most valuable experiences of my life. I was so greatly influenced by the people and culture of Japan, both as an artist and a person. In the weeks since the earthquake and tsunami I have been heartbroken for their losses, and today I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute in this small way toward the relief efforts.
These prints are 8.75″ x 8.75″, printed area 5″ x 5″. I designed them so they would fit a square Ikea frame (Ribba Style, #16228), but these will be shipped as unframed prints. Hearts & Hands is currently regrouping after a slight snag with Paypal terms, but if you’d like one you are more than welcome to make a donation directly to Shelterbox in exchange for a print. Just let me know if you’re interested. Thanks!

What do you get when an interior designer and an architect team up to design their own wedding invitations? A sophisticated and truly original creation.
These gorgeous invitation pieces were designed by architect Isaiah King. I’m a broken record – but I LOVE collaborating with clients. These graphics are terrific, and I think the smokey purple ink color for the text is perfect.

I’m just coming up for air after a long weekend of printing, I can’t believe where the time has gone this month. But I’m so happy for daylight savings, bring on the warm weather.
So this is a big week for me at work. For the past few months I’ve been in the process of a big studio move, fixing up my workspace in PA and slowly moving years of samples and past projects, one carload at a time. The final puzzle piece will be my press, which is going to be moved out on Wednesday.
I’m going to have a busy week of set-up, but I’ll be sure to post photos and updates as soon as the dust settles. I’ll also have lots of website updates with new ordering info – but my email address and phone number will remain the same. Hope you’ll check back soon. :)

Yesterday I spent the afternoon down at the Etsy offices helping them print promo materials for South by Southwest. They have a very nice Vandercook Universal I. I had so much fun with those guys, here are a few more photos of their team producing letterpress notebook giveaways.
In case anyone is still wondering, Etsy really is the world’s coolest place to work…
