Its hard to believe a whole season has flown by so fast.  Thanks to everyone for a summer of great contests, you have made it so fun for us.  :)  So without any more delay, this week’s winner was Letty, who penned:

“California girl meets east coast mosquitos.”

Thanks again, and best of luck to everyone as we kick off the autumn season!

Well, I can’t believe September is already upon us.  I want to thank everyone so much for tuning in and entering our Monday contests this summer.  Nole and I have really enjoyed reading all of your entries.  You guys are awesome.  Today is the LAST contest of 2011, and the theme is:

Last Days of Summer

While everyone is hunkering down for the hurricane on the east coast, I thought I’d share some bright photos to carry myself through the stormy weekend.

Yesterday I printed the final cover in my series with the wonderful Angela Liguori of Studio Carta, this was my favorite of the three.  :)  I’ll post some more shots of this project next week, but in the meantime I hope everyone stays safe and dry this weekend.  xo

I took some photos of my neighbor’s sweet corn crop this week …in these last days of summer.  I’m heading to Cape Cod for one last long weekend, and will be back on Tuesday.  I hope you have a great weekend, time to savor every last minute of the season before the cooler weather starts creeping in.  :)

Yesterday I spent the afternoon in New York, walking around Soho with one of my dear friends on her birthday.  I also had a chance to drop by the awesome Etsy offices in Brooklyn to hand deliver some cards.   So nice to catch up with everyone.

And while I was goofing off in the city, Gayle spent the afternoon at her old doggie daycare, Cheeky Dog, so she could catch up with her old friends too – I love that place.  (By the way, if you click this link you might notice that her picture is on site.  Hilarious.)

I snuck away to Sea Girt, NJ for two days this week – the second of my three mini-break vacations of the summer.  Now I’m printing all weekend – but that’s okay because I feel very rested and raring to go.  I had some mega creative inspiration while I was there…

Hope you have a great weekend, please check-in on Monday for the second to last contest of the summer!

Today I’m excited to share some first photos of a collaboration with Angela Liguori of Studio Carta in Boston!  Angela and I started this project about 2 months ago, it will be a limited edition of hand-bound notebooks with letterpress covers – I’m printing the covers, and Angela will be binding them.

This project makes me so happy because it reminds me of how lucky I am to be doing what I’m doing.  Angela and I first got to know each other by reading each other’s blogs.  I always loved her beautiful work and photography, and from the beginning her craftsmanship has always inspired me to be better at what I do.  That’s what I think is so amazing about this new world we live in.  Sure, it can be crowded and chaotic on the internet – but it also lets us explore all the talent, kindness and creativity in the world.

Here are some more photos of the covers in their beginning stages, and we’ll be keeping you posted as the project evolves.  Thanks, have an awesome day.  :)

After days of feverish coaster printing (and a quick trip to the beach) I’m taking photos and updating my Etsy shop before the weekend starts.  I’m happy to add Philadelphia to my list of Neighborhood Coasters!  More updates to the shop coming later today, just wanted to share these colorful photos.

rose ink

Rose 3

rose 7

Mixing ink is always a fun part of my day.  I always have to do it right by the window so I get plenty of natural light.  I never, ever mix ink after the sun goes down – twice in the past I had to scrap entire wedding invitation sets when I woke up the next morning and realized the color was a shade off from what it looked the night before.  Hrrummph.

But when done right, it can be a very fun and relaxing activity.  I recently posted a step-by-step demonstration of mixing lavender, and it seemed to be a hit with readers.  So I thought I’d do the same for a rose color ink I was printing last week.  You can see photos of the full progression here.  Enjoy!
